Following the events of the previous films, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) decide to take the possessed Annabelle doll to the safest place they know: their own home. They place it in a locked, sacred glass case within their artifact room, a space filled with other cursed objects from their cases. However, when the Warrens go out for the evening, their ten-year-old daughter Judy (Mckenna Grace) is left in the care of her babysitter, Mary Ellen (Madison Iseman), and her friend Daniela (Katie Sarife). Driven by curiosity about the Warrens' work, Daniela enters the artifact room and opens Annabelle's case, unwittingly unleashing the evil spirits within. The night turns into a frantic battle as the girls must survive against a host of monsters awakened by the doll.
