The original developer of PSP2PS3 stopped releasing updates around 2015. However, the community has kept it alive by patching compatibility for newer Windows OS and PS3 firmware versions (4.90+). Some forks on GitHub (e.g., “PSP2PS3-Reborn”) are actively maintained, but they lack the repack’s ease of installation.

PSP2PS3 is a Windows-based utility designed to wrap PSP game backups inside the native PlayStation 3 PlayStation Network (PSN) engine container. The system utilizes the official "PSP Remaster" and "PSP Launcher" emulators built into the PS3 firmware by Sony.

: Upon completion, the tool will automatically open the folder containing your newly created PKG file.

Sony officially released games under the "Minis" and "Remaster" categories. PSP2PS3 mimics this packaging. The tool converts PSP ISO, CSO (compressed ISO), or PBP (PSP update file) into a standard PKG file. This PKG file can then be transferred to a USB drive and installed onto a PS3 running Custom Firmware (CFW) or HEN (Homebrew Enabler). The name "Minis" refers to the fact that the PS3 treats these converted PSP titles similarly to how it handles the official PSP Minis game category.
