Because the Ultimate Collection installer was notoriously buggy, players would often install the game only to find the text reverted to English, or the menus scrambled. The official patches released by Microsoft were region-locked. If you had a "multilingual" copy, applying the official patch often broke the game entirely, causing the dreaded "Please insert original disc" error even when the disc was spinning in the drive.
